Green wood for spoon carving

Can I carve spoons from green wood or do I gotta let it dry first, What's your preference and why?

And if you carve green, how do you prevent it from cracking as it dries?

yeah, you can and I know that many carvers prefer it because it's much softer and easier to cut
to prevent cracking, you must dry the finished spoon slowly and evenly, ensuring the walls are a consistent thickness and storing it in a paper bag with some of the carving chips or a damp rag.

Yes, green wood is great for spoon carving since it cuts much easier and cleaner than dry wood. To prevent cracking, keep the thickness even and let it dry slowly, a paper bag with shavings works well.
