What's the one project you wish you'd kept?

While cleaning out the garage, I found an old photo of a cutting board I made probably 15 years ago, I gave it to a friend who moved across the country and I've regretted it ever since, well not because it was anything special, but it was one of my first decent projects that actually turned out right. My dad jokes that every woodworker should keep at least one before piece to remember where they started, but I apparently missed that memo.

So anyone got something you made and gave away or sold, or tossed that you wish you still had?

Yeah, I gave away a small jewelry box to my sister when I was first learning dovetails. It was rough but the joints were tight and I was so proud of it. I don't know if she still has it somewhere but I'd love to have kept it just to see how far I've come

Do you think it’s the craftsmanship you miss most, or the memory of where you were at that stage as a maker? Has that changed how you decide what projects to keep now?
