I just cut a 3/4 maple piece for a bookshelf, but it's already warping pretty bad. Do you think if I weigh it down for a while it might fix it, or am I stuck having to sand it?
I had the same problem with a 3/4" maple shelf I made for my garage here in LA. It bent after a few hot days. I tried putting weights on it, but what worked better was laying it flat with damp towels under it and letting it dry slowly in the shade. That helped straighten it without much sanding.
