Waney edge mirror build, first time trying this

I've been wanting to try something a little different and finally started working on a waney edge mirror. I found a gorgeous slab with a live edge and thought it'd make a killer rustic frame for a mirror, although still figuring out the best way to get a perfect fit between the mirror and the irregular edge, I want it to look natural but still sit flush and secure. Debating whether to go with a routed in back panel or surface mount it and brace it.
id like to hear suggestions and advices, or experiences if there are any relating to this , thanks in anticipation

Since you want a bit more rustic look go with surface mount with braces. As for the irregular edge, use foam tape or silicone behind the mirror for added support.

+1 with @YinToMyYang's statement about surface mounting but do add extra internal bracing to the back of the frame. And also finish the edge. Sand and seal to avoid moisture issues and that's it.

Definitely leaning towards routing for a secure and natural looking flush mount. Surface mounting might be trickier with an irregular edge
