Remaking a treehouse

When I bought my lot, there's a treehouse at the "yard" already. I gave a look at it and decided it's worth keeping. The foundation is pretty solid and I'm thinking of making it prettier, not the vintage regular looking one. What is the best way to remake it? Is it better if I cement it or keep it wooden or cement is going to defeat the purpose of treehouses.

You should definitely stick with wood. it'll keep the natural aesthetic. Cementing will give more sturdiness but then you'll totally lose the whole "treehouse" vibe. You can actually make some changes like treated lumber and add some lightning or composite decking for durability.

This sounds like a cool project! I don't think i'm seeing treehouses now so this is such a win for me. @YinToMyYang is right though, cement might get stiff overtime and you know what might happen.

Go for strong wood like oak or maple for frames then cedar or redwood for sidings. These are good and sturdy one and they're insect repellant too!

Wood treehouses are lovely. Hope you're sticking to that for aesthetic and safety!

Glad to hear you're keeping it! I think wood is the way to go,it really keeps that treehouse vibe intact. Cement might be too heavy and just not fit right. Can't wait to see how it truns out

Go for wood,using cement kind of defeats the idea since trees can bend and move, while cement just stays put. You might need concrete for the ground posts, but keep the main structure wood.What style are you thinking about?

A couple of years ago, I helped my cousin update an old treehouse. We decided to stick with wood, but we replaced the posts and deck boards with treated lumber. We also strung up some LED lights and put on a weatherproof roof. The end result was fantastic, and it still has that classic treehouse vibe. I'd avoid using cement, except perhaps for the ground footings if absolutely necessary.
