White oak, no contest! it takes abuse, looks great, stains well, and you can do everything from furniture to flooring to outdoor projects.
And you see, quartersawn white oak especially, those rays are gorgeous and it's stable as hell
Cherry is pretty but too soft for my taste and walnut is beautiful but quite pricey I think. Oak just works for everything
