We have a little cabin and I'm installing a mini library so I also need to make steps to reach the upper shelves. I plan to use reclaimed mahogany for the steps, and I've hit a snag with the folding top platform. It's going to be supported by a 10mm brass rod, and I'm struggling to cut threads on it. Is brass typically harder to thread than steel? I've chamfered the end of the rod, but maybe it needs more. Any suggestions on getting a clean thread or any other approach I should explore?
