Looking for a hinge that can handle a heavy lid

Been working on a storage chest project and he lid came out heavier than I originally planned, and now I'm on the hunt for a hinge setup that can actually support the weight without stressing the wood or slamming shut. I've looked at some of the standard options, but most of them feel like they'd either be too flimsy or just not designed for something this solid. I'm curious what kind of hardware others out there have used for heavier lids, something that balances durability with smooth motion.

I've had good luck with heavy-duty lid stays or support hinges from Brusso or even specialized ones from Rockler.
They have some options designed to hold the lid open at a certain angle and often have a soft-close mechanism built in to prevent slamming.
I think those brands are worth a look for you!
Another option I could think of is using a continuous piano hinge paired with a separate pair of lid stays.
The piano hinge distributes the weight across the entire back edge, which is great for preventing stress on the wood.
Then you use the stays on the inside for the smooth opening and soft close.
Just make sure whatever stays you get are rated for the total weight of your lid.
It's a bit more work to get it all aligned, but it's a solid, reliable solution!
