Working on a pair of maple cabinet doors and sprayed a single light coat of water-based BIN 123 primer. Coverage looks decent... maybe a couple of thin spots where you can see through, but overall it feels sealed. I went light because I didn't want to over-wet the doors and risk any warping.
Now I'm debating whether it's worth hitting them with a second coat of primer or if I should just move on to topcoat. I know maple is pretty dense, so maybe the extra coat is overkill, but I don't want adhesion issues or flashing down the road either. For those who've painted maple before, do you usually lay down two primer coats as standard, or is one light coat enough if coverage looks good?
