Help with trim

Im having a little trouble with a project and needing some advice

I’m making an open door casket for a Halloween display but I don’t know how to fit this trim around the back edge so that it doesn’t bind when the lid is opened, I want it to have a continuous look around all edges and I also want it to hide the joins between the two pieces so ideally I do not want to have to fit it with a gap between the two pieces of trim. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I do have a table saw and most other hand tools available

The easiest way to get that continuous look without a gap is to use a double miter right at the pivot point.
one tip is to miter the trim on the lid piece at a 45° angle, and miter the trim on the box piece at a 45° angle. When the lid is closed, the two mitered ends form a perfect 90° corner and hide the seam.
It's a bit tricky to line up perfectly, but it gives you that seamless, continuous look you want

Has anyone here tried a different approach than double miters for this kind of hinged trim detail? Curious if there are other clean solutions that still avoid binding when the lid opens.
