Gazebo roofing

Hi,

I have built a gazebo at the end of my garden approximately 4200mm long, on a slight decline and approximately 3200mm wide, with periodic supports between the struts.

I had put over a waterproof fabric roof, with the theory that the rain would hit it and run down. However, it very quickly pools and sags.

I was thinking of putting a sturdy, lightweight material underneath the fabric and screwing it in, then placing the fabric on top, so that it stops pooling and the rain can run off. I am mindful of the extra weight that covering the entire 12m squared roof would bring and am trying to avoid having to put in additional support for this!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I think the easiest fix that adds almost no weight is to install a few tight steel cables or wires running underneath the fabric, parallel to the 4200mm length. Anchor them securely to the end struts.
Just make sure you pull the fabric itself extremely taut when you re-secure it to the frame after the cables are in place.
This utilizes your existing structure to stop the pooling without risking overload.
But if you absolutely need a rigid base, corrugated polycarbonate sheets are the lightest option, but I suggest trying the tensioned cables first!

Could you screw 2x1batons on to trap and to hold the material taut with a dab of silicone on the screw to provide some protection against water ingress?

Corrugated polycarbonate sheets are ideal but foam PVC works too, it has to be sloped enough so the water drains naturally
