I’ve been practicing small builds and now want to take on something a bit bigger. What projects helped you grow your skills when you were starting out?

Good first big projects are ones that challenge you but aren’t overwhelming. Things like a dining table, a simple bookshelf, a workbench, or a storage cabinet force you to plan, measure, and execute multiple joints and surfaces. They teach you about layout, joinery, and finishing, while still being functional when done. Choose something you’ll actually use. It makes mistakes easier to learn from and keeps motivation high.

That’s wonderful advice from @sailor. @frenchriviera I usually point people toward a workbench or bookshelf first since you’ll use it right away and learn a ton along the way. What tools are you working with right now?
