I'm making bookmarks for wifey, and want to finish with oil
I'm confused, which type of oil is best for this?

how do I make sure that it will not damage a page of a book by bleeding onto it? wifey wouldn't like that
TIA for all your advice

oh no! don't use any kind of an oil finish, it will stain the pages if left in the book. I would either leave the piece natural or use a hard film finish, like poly or lacquer.

Agree with @American0. I’d avoid oil finishes entirely for bookmarks since they can transfer to pages over time. A thin film finish like wipe-on poly or lacquer, fully cured, is the safest option. I'm not sure if you already figured it out since there's no update yet.
