Disappointing Tuffsaw bandsaw blades

I wanted to try bi-metal bandsaw blades, but Justbandsawblades, my supplier for decades, didn't offer my preferred spec in bi-metal. So having seen Tuffsaw blades praised on the forum, I bought two 3/8 6tpi blades for my Laguna 14BX.

Unfortunately I am very disappointed with them. The first sounded like a machine gun, presumably a bad weld, and gave a dreadful finish. The second was quieter but also gave a dreadful finish.
I've been using bandsaws for over 50 years, so I know what to expect. I have never seen a finish as bad as this; I wasn't feeding the wood fast.

Bandsaw finish.webp Is this finish typical of bi-metal blades? Surely not.

That’s tough, especially after spending 50 years working with the saw. Hearing about a 'machine gun' blade isn’t a good sign. It seems like there might be a problem with the weld or the tooth set, rather than your setup.

Given your experience, if the finish is that poor, something's definitely not right.
It could be a bad weld, a bad set, or maybe even a bad heat treat. You shouldn’t have to struggle with the blade like this
