DeWalt saw trouble

Guys, my trusty DeWalt miter saw (DWS780, for the curious) just started giving me grief mid project. I was cutting some 2x4s for a deck rail when the blade suddenly started slowing down between cuts, almost like it's fighting resistance. I've checked the blade, cleaned out the dust around the guard and brushes, and even swapped outlets just in case it was a power issue. But its still happening.

Something dumb I'm overlooking?
 
Most people baby their DeWalt tools like they're invincible, but the DWS780 has known motor fatigue issues after moderate use. If it's slowing between cuts, odds are your armature or field windings are toast...not dust, not power, just DeWalt's dirty little secret creeping up on you.
 
Make sure to check the blade mounting, it might be a bit loose or warped, which could be causing some drag. Also, take a look at the lower blade guard for any debris or damage that might be getting snagged. Worn-out carbon brushes can lead to similar issues as well.
 
Yeah, that could be the motor brushes wearing down, try checking if they need replacing, even if they look clean. Also, try spinning the blade by hand (with it unplugged) to feel for drag or wobble. Sometimes a bearing issue can sneak up mid-project. Hope it's a quick fix!
 
First, try unlocking the knob. If it turns but the table does not move, the knob might be stripped. Another potential issue is that splinters could be jamming the table and base. If the knob is stripped, you can turn the saw upside down to see if you can get to the stud. Use padded pliers to turn the stud until the table moves. Assuming the stripped knob is the problem, you will need to reattach it to the stud. The most difficult fix would be to cut off the plastic knob and make a new one to attach to the stud.
