Warm welcome to the forum! How's it going?

I'm Jan (Yan). My interest is anything to do with design, materials, tools, machines, processes and techniques. As an apprentice trained tool maker, I'm interested in bringing old, quality machines, made from good British cast iron, back to life. I also have a degree in education, my main subject being design & technology. So, design problem solving is also an activity that I enjoy.

Welcome Jan, I looked around for a bit and I can say tool maker background is kinda gold around here and I think its great to have someone who actually understands how tools are made, not just how to use them

Hi Neil,
Toolmakers don't necessarily make tools but are trained to use machines that are found in a toolroom. However, I do make tool, amongst other things, and I've posted some items that I currently sell on Etsy.

Oh okay, thanks for clarifying. Hasn't been quite long I got into wood working seriously, just finished my first project, a tabletop

Hi Neil,
I also make shoe racks as well as the tools already mentioned - they are all on Etsy. A good proportion of my output has been dispatched to the USA, but Trumps tariffs have put a dampener on that!

Hello and welcome to the forum @john popowski I see you and @Neil jones have got a little thing going on, that's great. The stuff you made look really great by the way, you're good at what you do. Great to have you here
