I've been working more with raw timber lately, mostly for outdoor furniture and some exposed structural pieces and I'm trying to settle on the best approach for long term protection. I've used oils and sealers in the past, but some didn't hold up through a full year of sun and rain. What are you all using to treat their timber, especially for projects that live outdoors. Do you stick with traditional oils, go for modern hybrid finishes, or swear by something else entirely? I'm looking for something that brings out the grain but also stands up to the elements without needing constant re coating.
