Should I cut it?

I work in a small shed and just got a used Grizzly table saw. The fence rails are really long and too big for my space. I want to cut the left side so I can fit my drill press, but I've never cut rails before. Has anyone done this without messing things up? Thanks!

Yeah you can cut fence rails, lots of folks do in small shops, you can just measure twice, mark square, and use a metal saw or cutoff wheel...also clean edges, and re-drill holes if needed

I’ve trimmed fence rails before and the key is to measure carefully and support the rail fully while cutting with fine tooth blade and slow, steady feed help prevent tear out. Clamp everything securely, and consider a sacrificial guide or straightedge to keep the cut perfectly straight, you should be fine
